In a recent interview, Nissan's executive vice president has confirmed the 2014 Qashqai will be revealed in November and will enter production in December 2013.
Speaking to Auto Express, Andy Palmer said the crossover will be built on a new modular platform that will underpin medium-sized Renault and Nissan cars, from the next-generation X-Trail to the forthcoming Megane. It "will be innovative with both styling and technology".
Engine options are rumored to include a 1.6-liter diesel and a supercharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol which produces 113 hp and 190 Nm of torque. There's also a plug-in hybrid version which will be introduced in showrooms in Europe in 2015. Front-wheel drive will be standard, while all-wheel drive will be optional.
Set to go on sale early next year, the 2014 Nissan Qashqai will be built in the UK and pricing is expected to remain similar to its predecessor.
