Nissan is recalling 123,308 units of the 2013 Altima in the United States due to a problem with the spare tires which were found to be incorrectly inflated.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said "Tires that are significantly over- or under-inflated may fail without warning, increasing the risk of a crash."

The Japanese carmaker said there were no reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue. The affected vehicles were manufactured March 21, 2012 through March 26, 2013.

The recall is expected to begin May 3 and dealers will inspect and adjust the spare tire pressure, as necessary, free of charge. Owners can call Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
