In a recent interview, Audi of America President has confirmed the next generation A4 will get a TDI engine in the United States.
Speaking to Automotive News, Scott Keogh said the company had hinted offering a diesel version of the A4 earlier but "this deep in its life cycle, it didn't make any sense to do all that dramatic re-engineering and re-architecting of the car to basically only have a two-year selling period."
The executive confirmed the 2014 A4 will be powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine which could produce 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque. In addition, Keogh also revealed the brand was considering the new A4 with a 3-liter TDI engine but Audi decided sales would be too low to justify the investment.
