Kia has officially unveiled the high-performance GT versions of the Cee'd and Pro_cee'd that will debut at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show tomorrow.
Both cars are powered by a new version of Kia’s 1.6-liter GDi turbo engine which produces 204 hp and 265 Nm of torque. They can deliver fuel consumption of 7.4-liter per 100 km (31.7 mpg US or 38.1 mpg UK) and emit 171 g/km CO2.
Linked to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, the front-wheel drive models can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). They can also accelerate from 60-100 km/h (37-62 mph) in fourth gear in 5.4 seconds, 80-120 km/h (50-74 mph) in fifth gear in 7.3 seconds and 80-120 km/h in sixth gear in 8.8 seconds.
Designed in Europe under the direction of President and Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, the 2013 Cee'd GT and Pro_cee'd GT feature an aggressive body kit with deeper bumpers, new front grilles, lamp clusters, jewel-like four-point LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, red brake calipers and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, they come with Recaro sports seats, alloy pedals, a seven-inch racing car-inspired TFT instrument cluster and different surface materials.
To celebrate the arrival of its first high-performance pro_cee'd, the South Korean carmaker also announced the pro_cee'd GT 1st Edition. With a production run of just 500 units, the limited edition will feature several bespoke interior and exterior styling enhancements. Other highlights include adaptive xenon headlights, automatic air conditioning, satellite navigation and a large sunroof.
Production of the Kia Pro_cee’d GT and Cee’d GT is scheduled to begin at the company’s Zilina plant in Slovakia in May 2013, with cars going on sale across Europe from mid-year.
