German carmaker Volkswagen is teasing the Golf R concept, which is likely to be introduced for the first time at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Designed to preview the production model scheduled for the Frankfurt launch in September, the concept will probably feature a 2.0-liter TFSI EA888 engine that develop around 290 hp, which is 20 hp more than its predecessor. Power is sent to the Haldex all-wheel drive system via a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG.
The production version of the Golf R will have a starting price of around €38,000 when it goes on sale in Germany in early 2014.
