German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has recently announced plans to offer two new BlueEFFICIENCY editions of its new A-Class.
Designed to appeal to eco-conscious customers, the models are distinguished by a revised grille and LED daytime running lights. Both versions have also been fitted with a 15 mm lowered suspension, revised engine management system and longer gear ratios for the transmission.
Under the hood, the A180 BE will be powered by a 1.6-liter petrol engine which produces 122 hp. It allows the car to return 5.2-liter per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 120 g/km.
Meanwhile, the A180 CDI BE gets a 1.5-liter engine with 109 hp, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the front wheels. This enables the compact hatchback to average 3.6-liter per 100 km and CO2 emissions of only 92 g/km. It is the most frugal Mercedes-Benz model of all time.
The A-Class BlueEFFICIENCY Editions will go on sale in Europe in February with first deliveries are scheduled in March this year.
