According to Autocar, Mastretta is planning to introduce the MXT-R at Autosport International Racing Car Show in Birmingham on January 10.
The Mexican sports car is still an everyday sports car and designed to sit between the current road car and upcoming track-only MXR. It will have a familiar appearance but come with an aerodynamic body kit which includes a front splitter and larger rear wing.
Motivation is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine from the Ford Focus ST, producing 285 hp. For comparison, the standard MXT is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder Duratec engine with 250 hp and 339 Nm of torque.
