Citroen 2CV successor coming next year

According to a recent report, Citroen is currently developing a 2CV successor which could be launched in the spring of 2014 with a base price of €16,000.

Codenamed the E3 Essential, the model will be based on the same platform as the C4 and measure approximately 4,300 mm long that will have seating for up to five passengers. It will feature styling inspired by the C-Cactus concept (the image above) which introduced at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Engine options could include a 92 hp diesel and two petrol units with outputs of 82 hp and 100 hp.

The French media indicate that a concept version of the 2CV successor will be unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show before entering production in Madrid, Spain later this year.
