Following a leak earlier this week, Mercedes-Benz has detailed the engine lineup for the 2014 E63 AMG.
According to the German carmaker, the revamped E63 AMG will be powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 557 hp at 5,500 rpm and 720 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 5,250 rpm. This allows the high-performance sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, while the all-wheel drive 4MATIC version can do it in 3.7 / 3.8 seconds (sedan / estate).
Meanwhile, the E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model has a more powerful variant of the same engine producing 585 hp at 5,500 rpm and 800 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm. It enables the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 / 3.7 seconds (sedan / estate). All models will have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Power is transmitted to wheels via an AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sports transmission that offers four modes: C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport), S+ (Sport Plus) and M (Manual).
