Audi has officially confirmed that the 2014 Audi R8 and RS5 Cabriolet will make their North American debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Both models will go on sale this spring.
First up, the base 2014 R8 is powered by a 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine which produces 430 hp and 430 Nm of torque. It is mated to a new seven-speed S tronic transmission which allows the model to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 4.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 299 km/h.
Next, the R8 V10 gets a 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine that develops 525 hp and 530 Nm of torque. This enables the car to sprint from 0-96 km/h in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 314 km/h.
Moving on the R8 V10 Plus which has a 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine with 550 hp and 540 Nm of torque, allowing the supercar to run from 0-96 km/h in 3.3 seconds, before topping out at 315 km/h.
Lastly, the RS5 Cabriolet features a naturally-aspirated 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine which create 450 hp and 430 Nm of torque. It allows the 2,005 kg convertible to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 4.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 280 km/h.
"Coming off the momentum we’ve built with the launch of the all-new Audi S models, the new Audi R8 and RS 5 Cabriolet further invigorate the next chapter of our Audi performance models," said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. "We know that driving enthusiasts are excited to have these cars come to our shores, but they will be even more thrilled to know this is just the beginning."
