After leaked photos last week, Bentley has officially revealed the Continental GT Speed Convertible, ahead of its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show this month.
Dubbed the world's fastest four-seat convertible, the model features a prominent front fascia, a dark-tinted matrix front grille, 21-inch 'Speed' alloy wheels (finished in silver or with an optional dark tint) and elliptical exhaust pipes with rifled interiors.
Inside, the cabin comes with diamond-quilted leather upholstery, dark aluminum inserts on the dashboard and an optional carbon fiber trim. There's also an infotainment system which incorporates a DAB radio and a navigation system with satellite imagery and live traffic data. The luxurious Mulliner Driving Specification is standard.
Motivation is provided by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 616 hp and 800 Nm of torque between 2,000-5,000 rpm. Power is sent to the all four wheels via a Torsen center differential and an 8-speed ZF 'Quickshift' auto transmission. This allows the 2,495 kg car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 325 km/h, while fuel consumption is rated at 12 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
The new convertible is also fitted with a 10 mm lowered suspension compared to the regular GT and comes with stiffer bushes, uprated anti-roll bars and dampers, along with revised air springs. For the chassis, the British carmaker has increased the width of the track and sharpened up the steering to make it more responsive.
