Volkswagen has recently revealed the production version of the Polo R WRC, which was previewed by the Polo WRC Street concept at the GTI Meeting in Worthersee earlier this year.
Based on the fifth generation Polo, the high-performance hatch has a more aggressive look with a rally-inspired lower front spoiler with large air inlets, lots of 'R' badges, two chromed exhaust tips and 18-inch Cagliari rally-inspired alloy wheels wrapped in 215/35 tires.
Interior pictures have not been released, but includes WRC-badge seat covers, an Alcantara steering wheel, aluminum pedals, black roof liner, climate control and a navigation system.
Motivation is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI engine that produces 220 hp between 4,500 rpm and 6,300 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque between 2,500 and 4,400 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a short-shift six-speed manual gearbox, which allows the left-hand-drive car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 150 mph.
Only 2,500 units will be built with pricing starts at €33,900. Deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2013, but advance orders can be placed on December 11.
