2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet

German carmaker Volkswagen has officially revealed the 2013 Golf R Cabriolet via a new promotional video.

Previewed by the concept which was unveiled at the 2011 GTI-Wörthersee, the production model is set to become the quickest and most powerful open-top Volkswagen in history. It features an aggressive front fascia with large front air intakes, a black grille with R badge and aerodynamic side skirts. There's also LED daytime running lights, a dual exhaust system and 19-inch Talladega-style alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin comes with embroidered leather seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and plenty of R badging.

Under the hood, the convertible is expected to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 270 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This should allow the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than six seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h.
