To celebrate its success in the 2012 British Touring Car Championship, where MGKX Momentum team driver Jason Plato finished third with six race wins, MG has introduced a special edition for their 6 hatchback, called the BTCC Edition.
Available exclusively in two exterior colors (Arctic White or Union Blue), the special edition features a more pronounced front splitter, a BTCC badge on the grille, MG KX Momentum Racing decals on the hood, door mirror covers and a matte black roof. There's also a discrete rear spoiler, chrome fender vents and special black 18-inch alloy wheels with Dunlop Sport tires.
Standard equipment includes front sport seats, satellite navigation, a leather covered multifunction steering wheel, electronic hill hold function, power folding and electrically heated exterior mirrors, tyre monitoring system, rear parking sensors, fog lights, cruise control and MP3/Ipod connectivity.
Power comes from a turbocharged 1.8-liter petrol engine which produces 160 hp. This allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 193 km/h.
"We are delighted to be back at the pinnacle of British motorsport in BTCC with the MGKX Momentum team. It has been a great first season for MG and the team and the BTCC Edition is designed to celebrate our return to top level motorsport", said Guy Jones, MG UK’s Sales and Marketing Director.
The MG6 BTCC Edition has a starting price of £16,995, including a pair of VIP tickets to a race next season as guests of the MG KX Momentum racing team.
