In a recent interview, Jaguar's global brand director has hinted at the possibility of offering an XFR Sportbrake to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Audi RS6 Avant.
Speaking with Autocar, Adrian Hallmark said the car would be an "interesting project" and useful as a halo model for the resurgent brand. However he conceded installing the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine with 510 hp would be complex.
He explained "It would be tricky to re-engineer the self-leveling rear suspension to cope with the high performance of such an engine."
Even so, Hallmark also admitted that it would be "interesting" to have a limited production run of 300 to 400 units.
