The Jaguar C-X75 has officially been axed due to the current global economic crisis, according to the British carmaker.
This decision has been confirmed by global brand director Adrian Hallmark. Even so, Jaguar will continue to develop five working prototypes until next May. Out of which three will be sold at auction, another will go into a future Jaguar museum, while the other will be kept by the company for running demonstrations.
"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an £800,000 to £1 million supercar. This is backed up by other products from us that people are screaming out for", said Adrian Hallmark.
As we have previously reported, the C-X75 is expected to be powered by a supercharged and turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors. This could allow the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than three seconds and hit a top speed of more than 322 km/h.
