BMW has recently announced plans to offer an M3 DTM Champion Edition to celebrate its successful 2012 DTM season.
Inspired by the race-winning M3 driven by Canadian driver Bruno Spengler, the special edition has a Frozen Black metallic exterior with carbon fiber flaps, various dark chrome elements and matte black wheels. There's also DTM-inspired graphics and a traditional M racing stripe on the roof and boot.
Inside, the sills replicate the Canadian driver’s helmet design and his signature, along with the car’s serial number. In addition, the cabin comes nicely equipped with an Alcantara steering wheel, handbrake lever embroidered with M Power lettering and black Novillo leather seats with contrasting Palladium Silver accents.
Motivation is provided by a 4.0-liter V8 engine which produces 420 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It is mated to a seven-speed M DCT Drivelogic dual-clutch transmission which allows the coupe to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The M3 DTM Champion Edition will go into production in February. Only 54 units will be built, with German pricing starts at €99,000 including VAT (there’s no word on U.S. availability or pricing yet).
