2014 Acura MDX Prototype

Acura has just released a teaser image of the 2014 MDX prototype, ahead of its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in mid-January.

In a statement, Honda's luxury arm said: "Utilizing 'Aero Sculpture' design language affecting both form and function, the 2014 MDX prototype will feature alluring proportions with smooth, arching body lines matched to an efficient architecture".

Set to go on sale sometime next year, the MDX is expected to be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine which develops 310 hp and 368 Nm of torque. There's also a hybrid variant which uses a V6 gasoline engine at the front axle and twin electric motors at the rear axle for a combined output of 370 hp.

Additional information is limited, but the production version of the 2014 MDX could make its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
