After unveiled at a private Nurburgring event last month, BMW has recently released the first official images of the 2013 M6 Gran Coupe, which will make its first public appearance in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

The four-door coupe will feature a carbon fiber roof, flared wheel arches, different mirrors and more aggressive side skirts. There's also a specific rear air diffuser, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and track-focused M ceramic brakes.

Motivation is expected to be provided by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 552 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph.

Set to go on sale in summer of 2013, the M6 Gran Coupe will compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and the Audi S7.
