Volvo S60 Polestar concept headed to LA Auto Show

Volvo has announced the S60 Polestar Performance concept will make its debut the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.

First introduced in June, the street-legal sports sedan study features a conservative body kit, a specially-made Öhlins suspension and 19-inch Polestar alloy wheels wrapped in 265/30 R19 tires. There's also larger anti-roll bars and high-performance brakes.

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine has been equipped with a Garret 3171 turbocharger, a new cylinder head, modified combustion chambers, an upgraded air intake and a Ferrita stainless steel exhaust system. This allows it to produce 508 hp at 6,500 rpm and 575 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The Swedish carmaker says that the sedan can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 300 km/h.

"This is Polestar’s interpretation of the Volvo S60," says Christian Dahl, founder and CEO of Polestar. "It’s a car developed with our own preferences in mind - although we know they are also shared by active drivers."
