Toyota is planning to debut the convertible version of the GT86 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.
According to Autocar, the Japanese carmaker will use a folding fabric roof rather than a hard top in order to save weight. The engineers have also removed the two rear seats, which would have been far too impractical.
While power will likely remain the same: 200 hp coming from a normally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer 4-cylinder engine, the suspension may get softer to deal with lower body stiffness.
In addition, the chief engineer of Toyota’s sports cars, Tetsuya Tada, did confirm that a performance version of the GT86 was in the works.
