Mercedes-Benz has recently announced plans to recall 1,525 B-Class models in China due to a faulty fuel tank vent valve.
According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the affected vehicles include the imported B180 and B200 models produced between February 28 and October 8.
It is possible that vent valves in the fuel tank could loosen if the vehicle was operated with E15 gasoline, which contains 15% ethanol, for a certain length of time. It could result in slight fuel leakage via the valves, which could be a safety concern.
Owners will be contacted on December 26. Dealers will install a new fuel tank if necessary, also free of charge. Meanwhile, the affected vehicles, which are still in stock, will not be sold until they are repaired.
