In a recent interview, Mazda's European vice president of research and development has revealed the company is considering a premium supermini to rival the MINI Cooper and Citroën DS3.
Speaking with Autocar, Ichiro Hirose said Mazda is "interested in the premium sub-B class and we could have a car launched within the next two or three years".
Additional information is limited, but the car could use Mazda’s new SkyActiv lightweight chassis and efficient powertrain technologies. It would likely be a city car that incorporates the company's Kodo design language.
