BMW has officially unveiled the i3 coupe concept at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show today.

According to the German carmaker, the three-door version of the i3 hatchback features a two-tone exterior with a modified front fascia, new side skirts and restyled doors. There's also an updated rear end with a new rear bumper and a new tailgate. The concept measures 3,964 mm long, 1,768 mm wide and 1,555 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm, making it roughly the same size as a Ford Fiesta hatchback.

Inside, the cabin comes with leather / wool seats, brushed aluminum accents and light eucalyptus wood trim. There's also an iDrive infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and two individual rear seats.

Motivation is provided by an electric motor which produces 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission, while the lithium-ion battery pack allows the coupe to travel up to 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge.

BMW has yet to confirm prices, but expect the i3 Coupe to cost around £30,000 after the £5,000 Government grant when it arrives in 2014.
