According to Autocar, Jaguar and Land Rover are planning to share platforms in the future.

The luxury brands, owned by India’s Tata Motors, are looking at Volkswagen's range of modular platforms, namely the MQB, as a case study for how to shrink their seven platforms into two or three architectures which can be used to underpin a variety of vehicles. The goal is to get around 70 to 80 percent of the marque’s core model range on common platforms.

However, Jaguar’s global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, said "It won’t happen overnight. VW’s MQB platform will take seven years to roll out across the models it will underpin."

In addition to sharing platforms, the British brands will also share more components, including infotainment systems, seats and drivetrains.
