Honda confirms Nissan Juke competitor

Honda-CEO-Takanobu-Ito

In a recent interview with Autocar, Honda has confirmed that the brand is working on a Nissan Juke rival.

Accordingly, the model will be based on the next-gen Jazz and is described as a "younger brother to the new CR-V". Honda CEO Takanobu Ito said the new Jazz will be launched in 2014 and will include an SUV and a saloon as Honda is trying to make it a global car.

In related news, Takanobu Ito said Honda will not launch a Toyota GT86 competitor, but will address this market niche with the new Civic Type- R, which will arrive in 2015. He also mentioned that the company will not sell the Brio outside its target market of South East Asia and India. Meanwhile, the Japanese carmaker was not interested in introducing a "low cost brand" into Europe and would, instead, concentrate on "increasing the attractiveness" of the Civic.
