The first U.S.-spec Ferrari F12 Berlinetta has been auctioned for $1.125 million during the inaugural 2012 Formula One Grand Prix.

According to the Italian supercar maker, the auction had a starting price of $315,888 but the bid quickly raised and ended with Larry Roth, from Long Island, who placed the winning bid at $1.125 million. "Ferrari dealers, clients and friends" donated an additional $345,000, brings the total up to $1.5 million. All the money is being donated directly to the Red Cross of Central Texas to aid those affected by Hurricane Sandy last month.

Larry Roth will get the F12 Berlinetta during the second quarter of 2013, after Ferrari will start its deliveries in the United States.

As a reminder, the F12 Berlinetta is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 740 hp. It is linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and rear-wheel-drive setup, allowing the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in three seconds and hit a top speed of 340 km/h.
