BMW has just announced the 2013 3-Series Touring will have a starting price of $AUD58,900 in Australia when it goes on sale in February.

According to the German carmaker, the 318d Touring and the 320i Touring will be the first variants to join the existing 3-Series sedan lineup in Australia, while the more powerful 328i Touring will be launched from mid-2013. Sadly, BMW no plans to offer the 335i Touring here.

The base 318d Touring is $AUD2,500 more than the equivalent sedan and $AUD4,000 cheaper than the previous-gen 320d Touring. By comparison, the 3-Series Touring is $AUD400 more expensive than the Audi A4 Avant and $AUD1,700 cheaper than the Mercedes-Benz C200 Estate.

Standard features include rear parking sensors, auto headlights and wipers, cruise control with brake function, dual-zone climate control, AUX/USB inputs and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

Meanwhile, the 320i adds 17-inch 'star spoke' alloy wheels, front parking sensors, rear-view camera, electric driver’s seat with memory function, sports leather steering wheel and an interior lighting package.

Under the hood, both cars are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 318d diesel produces 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while the 320i petrol develops 181 hp and 270 Nm of torque.

The 318d Touring can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and consumes a claimed 4.7-liter per 100km, while the 320i Touring can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and burns 6.2-liter per 100 km.
