Ford has announced plans to introduce the U.S.-spec version of its 2014 Fiesta ST to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Set to compete with the Chevrolet Sonic RS, the Fiesta ST will be offered exclusively as a 5-door hatchback and is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine that produces 197 hp at 1,600 rpm and 290 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or an optional dual-clutch transmission, allowing the car to return a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.9-liter per 100 km (34 mpg).
For the exterior, the hot hatch comes with a bespoke front grille, lower side skirts, a redesigned rear diffuser, a high-mounted rear spoiler, dual exhaust pipes and 17-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the interior features bucket seats, a sporty steering wheel and pedals.
It gets a sport-tuned and 15mm lowered suspension, a more potent braking system and a three-mode electronic stability control: standard, sport and off.
