General Motors is recalling 12,626 units of the 2013 Cadillac XTS due to a head restraint issue. The affected vehicles were produced between October 12, 2011 and August 30, 2012.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "The rear seat head restraints may not lock in the upright position after being folded forward. If the head restraint is at its lowest position and it falls forward, it will not meet the height required by the standard. In the event of a vehicle crash, the lowered head restraint may increase the occupant’s risk of neck injury."

The North American carmaker has begun to notify owners and will replace the faulty read head restraints free of charge. For more information, owners can contact General Motors at (800) 458-8006 or NHTSA at (888) 327-4236.
