For the 11th straight year, Toyota says its Camry is certain to win the coveted title of America’s best-selling car.

The Toyota Camry has an astounding 67,000 units lead over the second-place Honda Accord and with slightly more than two months left in the year, the Japanese carmaker believes that the Camry will top the chart for the 11th straight year.

Even more impressive, Toyota said that its Camry will exceed the company's ambitious 2012 sales target by 15 percent and hopes to finish off the year with 400,000 Camrys sold. Originally, Toyota projected it would sell 360,000 Camrys this year.

Through September, Toyota sold 314,788 Camrys in the United States, up 37 percent from the same nine months last year.

As for 2013, Toyota expects Camry sales to keep growing. But with introductions this year of a redesigned Accord, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu, next year shapes up to be a dogfight.

Behind the Honda Accord (247,847 units) is the Nissan Altima (234,040 units) and the Honda Civic (234,029 units).
