Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid confirmed

In a recent interview, Land Rover's chief hybrid technology engineer has confirmed the brand will offer a plug-in hybrid variant of the Range Rover.

Speaking with Auto Express, Peter Richings said the model will be launched "sometime after 2015, but before 2020". He added "Plug-in hybrids definitely have the most potential. The Range Rover is the logical place to start as buyers of this car are able to afford the technology. It makes sense to put it in the top car and let it filter its way down the range".

No infomation about the SUV's plug-in hybrid powertrain, but Richings claimed it could be similar to the one used in the Jaguar XJ_e prototype.
