According to a report from Autoweek, Nissan is developing a supercharged hybrid powertrain which might make it into the 2014 Infiniti JX.
It will be an advanced version of the system currently used in the rear-wheel-drive M35h hybrid but has been revised for use on the front- wheel-drive JX. The new powertrain will feature a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a lithium-ion battery pack and continuously variable transmission. Regenerative power comes from the brakes and during deceleration of the CVT.
Despite being expected in the JX, it could be used on a range of vehicles from crossovers or compact cars. No information about the specifications, but the M35h hybrid system, which includes a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor, produces 360 hp, equivalent to a V8 engine.
