British carmaker Caterham has reccently launched the Superlight R600 that is the quickest Caterham Seven race car ever.

The R600 has a starting price of £44,995 in the UK and will represent the top level of the Caterham racing spectrum in the Superlight R600 Championship from 2013. Motivation is provided by a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine with 275 hp and 200 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque, which is 13 percent more than the previous R500. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission.

"As the fastest Seven we’ve ever built, this will provide our existing R300 racers with a real step up and a new and exciting challenge, even for experienced drivers. The R600 represents an increase in aggressiveness, although the linear power delivery of the supercharged engine makes it superbly driveable, much like the R300," said Simon Lambert, Caterham’s Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer

As the first Seven to get forced induction technology, the Superlight R600 comes with a Titan limited slip differential and Avon slick tires. In addition, there will also be a kit for R300 owners to update their cars to R600 specifications.
