New details are starting to emerge about the next-generation Honda Civic Type R. According to Autoexpress, the model will be powered by a new turbocharged 1.6-liter direct-injection engine with more than 250 hp when it goes on sale in 2015. In addition, the Japanese carmaker is also developing an eight-speed duel clutch automatic transmission, which could be offered in the new hot hatch.
At the Paris Motor Show last month, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed that his aim was to make the new Type R the fastest front-wheel-drive car ever around the Nurburgring in Germany, a record currently belongs to the Renaultsport Megane 265 Trophy in eight minutes and eight seconds.
