Here are the first images of the next generation Mazda3 which will be launched next summer. Mazda’s UK division says that these are digital renderings to show the Kodo design language, rather than a real car.
It will be available as a 5-door hatchback and a 4-door sedan. The first one will fight with the new VW Golf, while the latter will compete with the Audi A3 saloon.
The design is heavily influenced by the new Mazda6, such as a shield-like front grille with a chrome trim flowing into the headlights, while strong wheel arches and an upswept crease mark out the sides of the car. The rear gets floating tail-light clusters for a uncluttered look.
The 2014 Mazda3 will also benefit from the brand’s SkyActiv fuel-saving technology. The U.S. version will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 155 hp.
