2013 Toyota Avalon starts at $30,990

Japanese carmaker Toyota has just announced the pricing of the 2013 Avalon in the United States.

Set to go on sale at the beginning of December, the base model has a starting price of $30,990, which is $2,205 lower than the outgoing Avalon, while the hybrid variant in top-spec trim cost $41,400. All prices excluding $795 for destination and delivery.

Under the hood, the Avalon is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 268 hp, mated to a 6-speed automatic. In terms efficiency, the sedan returns a combined EPA-rating of 25 mpg, 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Meanwhile, the hybrid version features the same powertrain as the Toyota Camry hybrid. It combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a 244.8 volt battery and an electronic CVT. This system has a total output of 200 hp and returns a combined EPA-rating of 40 mpg, 39 mpg highway and 40 mpg city.
