Holden has just announced the 2013 Malibu will be offered with a choice of two four-cylinder engines when it goes on sale next year in Australia.

According to the Australian carmaker, the engine lineup will include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC petrol and an optional 2.0-liter Common Rail turbo diesel. Official figures have not been released yet but the Euro-spec 2.4-liter petrol produces 167 hp and 225 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-liter diesel develops 160 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

Compared to its Chevrolet Malibu counterpart, the sedan is distinguished by a revised grille and a unique suspension which was developed exclusively for the Australian market.

Standard features include rear park assist, electronic stability control (ESC), passive entry and start with sensor key, colour touchscreen and premium audio system.
