North American carmaker GM has recently unveiled the 2013 Chevrolet Onix for the Brazilian market at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show.
Set to go on sale before the end of the year, the hatchback is based on GM's global sub-compact architecture and borrows styling cues from Chevrolet's global design language. It will compete with segment leaders like the Volkswagen Gol and the Fiat Palio.
Motivation is provided by a choice of two four-cylinder engines: a 1.0-liter gasoline with 78 horsepower (80 hp on ethanol) and a 1.4-liter with 98 hp on gasoline and 106 hp on ethanol. All engines are mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
"We looked to create a car with high levels of design, comfort and technology that will exceed customer expectations," said Chevrolet Marketing Director Gustavo Colosi.
The 2013 Chevrolet Onix is available in three trim levels (LS, LT and LTZ) and will be produced at GM’s Complex in Gravatai. The 1.0 LS version will have a starting price of $14,800, while the 1.4 LTZ model costs $20,700.
