xDrive BMW 1-Series to debut in Paris

BMW has just announced plans to unveil a new all-wheel-drive version of the 1-Series at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It is for the first time that a compact car is being given the xDrive system, which distributes drive torque variably between the front and rear axle, improving handling and safety.
According to the German carmaker, only two engine choices have been offered with xDrive. the 120d xDrive, which is powered by a 184 hp 2-liter turbodiesel, and the M135i xDrive, which offers a 320 hp 3.0-liter engine and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.
A new diesel entry-level BMW 114d will also makes its debut at the Paris show. It is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, producing 95 hp.
