The Volvo V40 Cross Country has recently been unveiled ahead of its Paris debut on September 29.

Set to compete with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, the model comes with redesigned front and rear bumpers, a new front grille, new daytime running lights. There’re also silver roof rails, side sills with contrasting inserts and restyled 19-inch alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, the cabin gets a 60/40 split rear seat, an extra floor insert, along with City Safety auto-braking, Bluetooth and the world’s first pedestrian airbag.

Under the hood, engine options will reportedly include:
  •  2.5-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder petrol T5 with 254 hp and 400 Nm.
  • 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol T3 with 180 hp and 270 Nm.
  • 2.0-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder diesel D4 with 177 hp and 400 Nm.
  • 2.0-liter diesel D3 with 150 hp and 350 Nm.
  • 1.6-liter diesel D2 with 115 hp and 285 Nm.
According to the Swedish carmaker, only the T5 is linked to all-wheel drive, while the rest of the engines are offered with front-wheel drive. All versions are fitted with start/stop system and braking energy regeneration. Both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions are available.

The V40 Cross Country is expected to hit markets early next year and pricing will start at around £19,500.
