Pagani has always intended to sell the Huayra in the United States, but it's been a long and difficult journey. Like its Zonda predecessor, the Huayra was originally constructed without airbags and the Italian carmaker requested airbag exemption was rejected last summer. This forced the company to spend an additional $5.1 million to install "smart" airbags which would satisfy U.S. regulations.
This week, Pagani has confirmed the "God of wind" will arrive in America by June of 2013. To even more encouraging news, this supercar was spotted on Ocean Avenue in Carmel, California by Youtube user Brian Zuk.
Only 15 units will be offered in America with a stunning price of $1.4 million. Power comes from an AMG-sourced 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine with 720 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 370 km/h.
