The 2013 Kia Carens has made its world premiere at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.
According to the Korean carmaker, the compact MPV is much more stylish than its predecessor as it benefits from the styling influence of design chief Peter Schreyer. The new Carens features a prominent grille, LED-infused headlights and a sloping roofline.
The interior has a new design which is far more modern and sophisticated than the third-generation Carens. The cabin gets a unique styling for the dashboard, a multi-function steering wheel, instrument cluster with digital display and a large central infotainment screen with satellite navigation.
In Europe, the fourth-generation Carens will offered with a choice of four powertrains. The 1.6-liter GDI produces 135 hp and 165 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-liter engine develops 177 hp and 211 Nm of torque. There's also a 1.7-liter diesel engine which creates 115 hp and 260 Nm of torque as well as 136 hp and 330 Nm of torque.
All versions are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, while the high-performance petrol and diesel models can be linked with an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
