Mercedes-Benz has just revealed the F1 safety car version of the SLS AMG GT, which will make its official debut at the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix.
Compared to the regular GT, the safety car version adds a specially developed and more sonorous rear silencer, F1-style livery, a light bar on the rear window, bucket seats with six-point seat belts, two central screens that allow the driver and co-pilot to monitor the progress of the race and a radio system to communicate with the organizers.
Motivation is provided by a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine with 591 hp 650 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which helps the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach the 200 km/h in just 11.2 seconds.
The GT F1 safety car will be driven by Bernd Mayländer who has been pacing F1 races since 2000 and recently took the 2013 SLS AMG GT out on a track.
