McLaren has just released the first images and details of the P1 concept, ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show.
Designed to be the "best driver's car in the world on road and track", the P1 will be placed above the MP4-12C and the 12C Roadster in both terms of price and performance. It is essentially a pre-production version of the F1 successor that will go on sale within 12 months.
McLaren Automotive Managing Director Antony Sheriff said "Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit. It is the true test of a supercar’s all round ability and a much more important technical statement. Our goal is to make the McLaren P1 the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made".
Additional infomation is limited for the moment, but previous reports have indicated the P1 could feature a modified version of the 12C’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) for a combined maximum output of 963 hp.
