The BMW Concept Active Tourer has recently been revealed ahead of its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
According to the German carmaker, the concept measures 4,350 mm long, 1,834 mm wide, 1,560 mm tall and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. It gets dramatic side mirrors, aggressive headlights and angled slats in the kidney grille. Meanwhile, the cabin is fitted with an 8-inch central display and a shade roof panel with Suspended Particle Device (SPD) technology which allows push-button control of the roof's opacity. There's also five places for passengers and a vertical metal track integrated in the rear of the front seats that can accommodate clip-on tabletops and tablet computers.
Motivation is provided by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The total output is 190 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque. It allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 200 km/h. In terms of efficiency, economy figures are 2.5-liter per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 60 g/km. Also, the model can run in zero-emissions electric-only mode for more than 20km.
More details will be announced in Paris later this month.
