Suzuki has recently unveiled the 2013 Wagon R in Japan. According to the carmaker, the new Wagon R, as popular in the land of the rising sun as the VW Golf in Germany, is available in two trim levels: the stock Wagon R and the Wagon R Stingray.
The model measures 3.39 m long, a wheelbase of 2.4 m and is 70 kg lighter than its predecessor. The car gets larger headlights, a rectangular grille with silver color, along with a new dashboard, the new steering and the gear knob. In addition, the Stingray version adds alloy wheels, extended fenders and a more aggressive grille.
Motivation is provided by a 660cc 3-cylinder engine with 52 hp and 64 hp in aspirated and turbocharged versions, respectively. The unit is linked with a continuously variable transmission. Thanks to the Idling Stop system, the stock front-wheel drive in Japan’s JC08 fuel cycle returns 67.7 mpg, while the top 4WD returns 58.8 mpg.
The Wagon R starts at $14,154, while the Wagon R Stingray costs between $17,028 and $20,584. However, the models are not expected to hit the U.S market.
