Before it goes on sale in Europe in October, Cadillac will officially present the 2013 ATS at the Paris Motor Show.
Built to become a global model, the European version of the premium compact sedan is based on a new lightweight rear-drive platform and powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 276 hp. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62mph) in 5.9 seconds.
According to Cadillac, the new ATS will compete directly with the BMW 328i which is powered by a 240 hp 2.0-liter force-fed inline four.
Along with the ATS, the American carmaker will also display the updated SRX crossover, the Escalade Hybrid and the 564 hp CTS-V sedan, sport wagon and coupe at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
"The arrival of the ATS now gives us a very strong contender in the biggest-selling segment of the premium class," says Wolfgang Schubert, Cadillac Europe Managing Director. "The ATS is quick, nimble and great fun to drive. It will appeal to buyers who appreciate a car with superb handling qualities that also stands out from the crowd. We’re confident the ATS has all it takes to go head-to-head with its competitors."
