Via a special website today, Audi has released first images and official details of the 2013 RS5 Cabrio, ahead of its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
As the open-top version of the RS5 Coupe, the convertible features a lightweight soft top which can be opened in 15 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). It is also outfitted with LED-infused headlights, a hexagonal single-frame grille with a matt aluminum trim surround and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels with 265/35 tires. Other highlights include a larger diffuser, a dual exhaust system and a carbon fiber rear spoiler.
According to the German carmaker, the RS5 Cabriolet will be available in black, gray, red or brown with eight exterior options available including a monochrome colour, four metallic and pearl effect colours and three crystal effect paints.
Inside, the cabin has a flat-bottom steering wheel, electric sport seats which use a combination of leather and Alcantara, high-gloss black trim and carbon fiber trim. There's also heated front seats, a wind deflector and a driver information system.
Power comes from a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 450 hp at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm of torque between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. It is connected to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and a rear-biased quattro all-wheel drive system. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h, while optionally increased to 280 km/h. In terms of efficiency, the model has a combined fuel consumption of 10.9 lt/100 km (21.6 US mpg or 25.9 UK mpg).
The 2013 Audi RS5 Cabrio will go on sale early next year and German pricing starts at €88,500. When it comes to America, expect the price tag to sit around $110,000.
