U.S. Government’s Environmental Protection Agency has recently rated the 2013 Audi A8 4.0T, which comes with a 4.2-liter V8 engine, at 17 mpg city / 28 mpg highway.
Specifically, the short wheelbase version is rated for a rather impressive 17 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the long wheelbase variant returns 16/26 mpg in city/highway. To note the impressive, the short-wheelbase car’s highway figure matches that of the six-cylinder version.
Compared to its competition, the A8’s fuel economy betters that of both the eight-cylinder versions of BMW’s 7-series (16/24 mpg for both short- and long-wheelbase models) and Mercedes-Benz’s S-class (15/24 mpg).
